What You'll Take Away

Confident ethical reasoning, not just code recall — you'll leave with a practical way of working through grey areas, rather than just knowing which section of the code applies.

Real-world calibration through case discussion — working through de-identified scenarios each week sharpens your judgement on situations the code doesn't spell out in black and white.

A working familiarity with both codes — by the end of 4 weeks, you'll know the APS Code of Ethics and the Board's Code of Conduct well enough to navigate them quickly when a real dilemma comes up in practice.

A peer space to think through dilemmas before they become problems — a confidential group of colleagues to reality-check your reasoning on boundaries, conflicts of interest, and competence, before you're facing them alone.

Your Facilitator

Dr. Catherine Hart

Clinical Psychologist | Board-approved Supervisor | APS Supervisor of the Year (2024) | Allied Health Awards Educator Excellence Finalist (2026)

Catherine has over 25 years' experience in the mental health field, including extensive clinical work across a range of settings in both the UK and Australia. In 2024, she was named APS Supervisor of the Year, recognising her contribution to the development and support of psychologists across the profession, and in 2026 was a finalist for Educator Excellence at the Allied Health Awards. Catherine is also the Clinical Governance Executive for Succoris Psychology, which operates 8 clinical sites across Australia — a role that keeps her closely engaged with the day-to-day ethical and clinical realities psychologists navigate in practice. She brings this same grounded, practice-based approach to facilitation: creating a space where psychologists can think through real dilemmas openly, rather than simply being told the "right" answer.

What You'll Experience

Ethical practice isn't just about memorising rules—it's about developing the confidence to reason through the moments where the code doesn't give you a clean answer. Over 4 weeks, you'll work through real-world ethical dilemmas with fellow psychologists in a collaborative discussion format. Each session focuses on a different area of ethical complexity: confidentiality and consent, boundaries and multiple relationships, conflicts of interest, and competence and self-care. Using example case scenarios, you'll learn to think like an ethicist, not just recall regulations. This is a space where your questions matter, your reflections count, and you'll leave each week with a clearer, more confident framework for navigating the grey areas you actually face in practice.
