We believe that financial barriers shouldn't prevent talented clinicians from pursuing their registrar training, especially those committed to working with vulnerable or underserved communities. That's why we're offering this fully funded scholarship—not just to remove financial stress, but to invest in clinicians who are going to transform mental health care. We particularly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and people who have experienced personal or financial disadvantage. It’s been huge news to be awarded the 2026 Succoris Academy Clinical Registrar Scholarship and I feel like I can only honour this decision by speaking from the heart. When I applied I honestly had no idea what to expect. I was very open about how my journey to getting qualified in Clinical Psychology has been bumpy and perhaps not quite always belonging to what you would expect of a psych. I was very touched by how Catherine recognised that not as a weakness, but as something to be proud of. My passion for Clinical Psychology has always been guided by my lived experience and values in reaching out and working with those in the community who are the most marginalised—which can be incredibly difficult when you’re impacted by significant social and financial disadvantage yourself. This scholarship and the team at Succoris Academy’s generosity has given me so much more freedom and autonomy in being able to develop my competencies and continue to grow as a psychologist, particularly to serve those in the LGBTQIA community, neurodivergent folks, and anyone hoping to lean in and get more out of life. I sincerely hope I can use this opportunity to honour everyone who has helped me along in my journey and make them all proud.
